The last day of this 30 days was my buddy Jake’s birthday. Jake is one of those friends who you just can’t help but have a good time with. He is so laid back and just an all around fun guy. And one of my favorite things about Jake is how un-judgmental he is. He is nice to everyone and will instantly make you feel comfortable and welcomed. Plus, he’s hilarious! Today was his birthday so I got him what every guy wants for their birthday….a hot girl. Or, at least a picture of one…the card had some Hawaiian Bikini model wishing him big coconuts. 🙂 Happy Birthday Buddy!
Well for those of you who know me, you may know I’m married. Ok, so maybe it’s in that creepy-fantasy-I-dream-about-being-married-to-you-guy-who-doesn’t-even-know-me way, but nonetheless married. To whom you ask? The one and only, Yadier Molina. ::SIGH:: He is so dreamy! Plus, he’s hands down the best defensive catcher in the major leagues and he wears Cardinal Red. Dream man? Yes! No but really, he waved at me once…check it out:
My amazing friend Grace got Commissioner’s Box seats once and took me with her (have I told you how much I love her? Oh ya, see day 5). So naturally when Yadi got on first in the 3rd inning I was calling out to him…ok maybe a lot and loud…and finally he was no longer able to contain himself. He laughed, looked right at me and waved! ::BIGGERSIGH:: I could have died and died a happy woman with a complete life.
So it seemed only fitting to send my husband a card. He will probably never read it; but yes, I sent Yadier Molina a card.
One of the most entertaining jobs I have ever had was when I worked at Applebee’s. I think most people hate food service jobs, and I tend to agree. But the people I worked with at Applebee’s made that job…well never boring, that’s for sure! Phil was the coolest line cook on the planet and nights that I worked with him were the best nights ever! I got him this card that was completely pointless, but for whatever reason as soon as I saw it I thought of him and it had to be done. I think one of the things I miss most about Phil is his loving nicknames. No one else could call me a nerd and mean it with such endearment. But more than that, he had nicknames for all the servers, perhaps he just couldn’t remember half their real names; but regardless of the reason, it was like home when you walked in and heard Phil’s quiet, deep, soothing voice booming your beloved nickname. Oh Phil, I miss you!
Today was Kris’s birthday…there were a lot of birthday’s this month!…so I got him a beer. But because beer at work is frowned upon, I got him a beer card! 🙂 Ok, maybe not quite the same. But he liked it! And he hung it on his bulletin board above his desk so it gives him inspiration to get through the day! Kris is a pretty cool kid and if I can help him get through the day, I feel it is my duty as a friend to do so! Happy Birthday Kris…go have a beer!
Today we are officially in the teens on the countdown to the best day ever. My Aunt Mitzi had this BRILLIANT idea for Christmas to get everyone to go down to a Cardinals game together. So her and my dad went to work and came up with the greatest gift ever! A huge group of us are going down on a party bus with party box seats (read: free food and drinks) and watching the Cardinals dominate the Cubs during home opening weekend. Yes, that means we get to watch the ring presentation and get replica rings. ❤ SO excited!! As you can see from my card to Mitzi, Clyde and Kels….
Oh, Joe and Brandy. Where to even start….let me tell you that Joe and Brandy are fo sho the two coolest people I know. AND they love TwistNSwirlz as much as I do, so we have frequent TwistNSwirlz dates ((though, not frequent enough…hint, hint!)) I met Joe when I started working at my current job and he eventually I got to meet his AWESOME fiancé, Brandy. We were instant BFFs, at least in my opinion lol. Joe and I like to share baked goodies, which is awesome! Plus, they are Cardinals fans…’nuff said!
These two love birds are getting married in June and I can’t wait to share their special day with them! They are so cool, they got a fun, homemade with love by KRibley card! It was Carebears because I love Carebears and so does Joe, “the man’s man”, even if he won’t admit it!
Kimmy, Kimmy, Kimmy. I’m so glad I work with this girl. She is hands down the funniest person I know! ((Again, especially when you get her and Sam together…see Day 19)) If you ever meet Kim, be prepared to laugh! She makes my job so much more entertaining and I’m pretty sure it would suck without her! On top of that Kim is the kind of person who would do literally anything for her friends and family. Basically, she’s a pretty cool cat! So, I got her a Hairy Buttocks birthday card! Trust me, it was very fitting….not because she has a hairy butt….just because of her sense of humor….lol oh, boy. I think that’s enough for now. I ❤ you Kimmy! 🙂
When I think of Jenn, the first word that comes to mind is Loyal. Jenn is an amazing friend! She is sweet and funny and real! And she is very loyal. I’m so lucky to be able to call her a friend! She has this ability to remember everything about you. It’s like no matter how long it has been since you last talked to her, she remembers everything you talked about and just picks up right where you left off. I always feel so cared about whenever I talk to her! 🙂 Jenn would have gotten a card no matter what, but it just so happened that Jenn’s birthday is in March so I sent her a fun little birthday card. Hopefully it made her feel cared about too.
So my friend Anne got this super great job offer! There are a group of girls in my program at school who I have gotten really close to, particularly this semester, and Anne is one of them. So when we heard about her job offer we had to celebrate! So I got Anne a bright, fun CONGRATULATIONS card…lame…don’t worry I got her cupcakes too! 😉 No but really, there is not a more deserving person and the students that will get Anne as a counselor next year, are the luckiest students around!
Today I sent a card to my friend Rita. I have been best friend with this girl FOR. EV. ER! Her dad and my dad were best friends, her mom and my mom were best friends and she and I were definitely best friends. I still remember the first day we all met. It was a family picnic from the agency our dad’s worked for out at Lake Springfield. And it was pouring. Rita and I were four and we had the BEST time playing “kick ball” or some version of it in the mud and rain. We had a BLAST and were BFFs ever since!
We basically grew up together; she had an older brother mark, so Mark, Rita, myself and Allie were like siblings! One year the eight of us rented and RV and drove to the Florida Keys. It was one of the best vacations of my life; I will never forget all the fun we had. The birth of the Double Decker PBJ was on that vaca, and clearly my life would never be the same without the DDPBJ! I was also introduced to Ace of Base on that trip…yes, I admit Ace of Base was my first ever tape cassette! Haha
I remember when Rita and I were younger we always wanted to grow up to be detectives. We would run around with these little notepads writing down anything suspicious that we saw. We would write down license plate numbers from every car we saw, descriptions of people, etc. I think we even made detective badges and fake business cards. Oh, good times!
As many different things we did together, I think one of our favorite pastimes was picking on Allie. We had a code word, “I.A.” standing for Ignore Allie, and whenever she was getting annoying (which in our opinion was basically anytime she was ever around) someone would just say “I.A.” and it was instantly like she wasn’t even there. We even told her that Rita’s parents kept dead bodies in the closet in the basement so that she wouldn’t come down there when we were hanging out down there. LOL. We were pretty mean. ❤
Anyway, as happens when you ‘grow up’ we’ve grown apart some; but Rita will hands down forever and ever be my best friend (even if she does up and move to Washington! :)) I hope the card made her smile half as much as writing about memories like this makes me smile!
