26, 27, 28, 29 and the Big 3-0!

Day 26 was a great day. For those of you who don’t know me, I bleed red. Cardinal Red to be precise. Baseball season is my favorite time of year and Busch Stadium is my Heaven on Earth! There is hands down NOTHING in this world better to me than Busch Stadium on a Friday night…or Saturday night….or Sunday…ok, anytime on any day really. Give me a red stadium chair and plate of nachos and you have my heart. The sights, sounds, and smells of a ballpark are unbeatable and the excitement in the air at Busch is the meaning of true happiness. So what is this rant about, you ask!? Tickets. Beautiful, wonderful, Cardinal tickets. Two pair to be exact. Happy Birthday to me! πŸ™‚ Spring Training has started, Yadi has been re-signed, and my confidence in my ability to make it to opening day without dying from excited anticipation has been renewed. Life is good. And the countdown resumes…43 days ❀

Day 27 I was clearly still feeling the effects of my high on baseball. And thank you to Fanatics.com for enabling my addiction. Let me be clear, I love anything Cardinals. My Christmas tree this year? All STL Cardinals. My closet? 70% Cardinals. My bookshelf? Littered with Cardinals. My heart and soul? You guessed it…belongs to The STL Cardinals. So it becomes difficult for me at times to find NEW, fun Cardinals stuff. Enter: fanatics.com. They have all kinds of fun, random, unique Cardinal gear. So two keychains, one window cling, a puzzle, a magnetic chip clip, one red, cardinals teddybear, and a box of these AWESOME drink umbrellas later, I felt satiated for the evening.Β  So excited; plus, these drink umbrellas are going to be perfect for my Opening Day party (right Katie!?). Be there or be a cubs fan (and trust me, no one wants that!).

I decided on day 28 to take a break from the anticipation of baseball season (though not for long ;)) and buy some music. The Market (for those of you android users) was having a mega-sale on some awesome albums. Truly, no one could rightfully pass these up. I got Own The Night (Lady Antebellum), Born This Way (Lady Gaga), Teenage Dream (Katy Perry) and The Band Perry (by, yes, The Band Perry) for $2.99 each. That’s right, 57 songs for $11.96! Score! I was verrrrrrry happy with my purchase! πŸ™‚

Day 29 was a little bit of a splurge, but it was totally warranted! ::guilty-not-so-convinced-face:: I got a flyer in the mail for a free Victoria’s Secret weekender bag with a $75 purchase. I do believe we have already discussed my Vic Sec addiction; but in case it was unclear, I’m addicted. They have giveaway bags like this once or twice a year and it truly is an AMAZING deal. I have a few of them that I use all the time! But this one, it was like an actual luggage bag! Retails for like $87! Okay, enticing right!? But the kicker is that I have been OGLING this Vic Sec zippy for weeks, but it’s a $75 jacket and I couldn’t ever quite pull the trigger. Um, coincidence–Jacket costs $75, Spend $75 get this awesome, free bag!? Done deal! Ya, marketing totally got me on that one…Eh, I’ve made worse decisions! Trust me, I didn’t lose any sleep over it…unless you consider that which was lost in anticipation of its arrival!

And finally The big 3-0…er the second 3-0…the big 6-0? Anyhow, Day 30…well let’s just say I couldn’t keep my mind off baseball season for that long. I have been anxiously awaiting February 29th for some time now. “Why?” you ask…because today is the day the ap gods release MLB At Bat 2012. I have been feeding my addiction on the sporadically posted, post season updates on MLB At Bat 2011; but alas the day has come for the 2012 new release. Thank you ap gods. For those of you out in the blogosphere who love baseball, this ap is THE ap to have. It’s $15; but trust me, worth every penny! It has it all from live pitch by pitch animation to video highlights, schedules, stats and news articles to live audio of every game, plus ticket purchasing capabilities and more! Truly the mecca for baseball on your smartphone.

Wow!! I have been soooo spoiled this month! But, I must admit, it’s been fun! Looking forward to a new adventure…and the fact that March has 30 days in it so Day 1 will actually be the first, and so on (so much less confusing!). Happy leap year everyone! Stay tuned! πŸ™‚

Days 20-25

This has been a fun week of gifts.

Starting with day 20. As most of you know I did the Fight for Air Climb this weekend. It was a ton of fun and I didn’t do awful either. One of the people on my team had this super cool ‘shoe wallet’, which is perfect for anyone who likes to run, bike, or really anything that makes carrying keys, etc difficult. So naturally, I had to have one! It is this small ‘tote’ that hooks onto your shoe laces and is just big enough for a key or two, ID, debit card, etc.

This picture is just so you can see what it actually looks like on a shoe...

...I obviously got this super cool Nike, Livestrong one!

Moving on to day 21…I guess I was on a theme here because when I found my shoe wallet yesterday, I came across this Livestrong sweatshirt. I was still thinking about it the next day, so I decided it would become my day 21 gift. It’s funny because I really am not even that big of a fan of yellow, but its a great brand/cause and a little pop of color will do me good [just ask my sister!]. Plus, it’s really comfy!

Day 22 I was still in this building-my-workout-wardrobe mood apparently, because I decided (again, thanks in part to my climb teammates) that I had to have a sweet watch for my workouts. Now, in my defense I have been wanting a ‘workout watch’ for sometime, but I the ones I bought in the past are the cheap, what I like to call: disposable, kind that last for about a month before the battery dies and you can do nothing to replace it; eventually throwing it away and buying another one. So I went in search [online] of a fun, not disposable, workout watch. I found a couple that I liked; but then…enter Puma watch. Ah, puma. I don’t know what my obsession is, but I have this weakness for anything Puma! I debated for a good hour {while watching glee!} on whether or not to spend nearly double the money on this Puma watch that I had so quickly come to love. Well, needless to say, money lost & Puma won!

Moving on to day 23, my favorite, local radio station plays a game called taboo every Wednesday. For those of you who have never heard of taboo, it’s a game in which you must get your partner to guess as many words as possible in a certain amount of time by describing them without using the specified ‘taboo’ words. So for example, I pull a card and my word is “Mistletoe”. Below the word Mistletoe would be a list of 5 ‘taboo’ words, such as: Christmas, plant, kiss, under, and hang. So, I have to describe my word (mistletoe) to my partner without using any of those taboo words. I love, LOVE word games-of any kind, so this is right up my alley. I actually went in search of Catch Phrase (one of my most favorite games EVER); but decided on Taboo because I have hardly ever played it, but love listening and playing along on the radio! I’m very excited to play! Game night anyone!?

Day 24…well, so much for no more food gifts! Oops. I had (yes, had!) to get this smoothie from Panera. I’m not sure why, but it was just screaming my name! It is an Orange Cranberry smoothie with Ginseng. Honestly, nothing about that sounds like something I would like. I’m not a huge orange fan (especially as far as flavors go) and I hate everything cranberry; but for some reason, it was calling my name. And who couldn’t use a lil extra ginseng now and then!? So I got it; and boy was I more than pleasantly surprised! I loved it! I’m sure it was fulllll of sugar; but if it weren’t for that, I would honestly get this all the time! It was so good and a perfect morning pick-me-up! You can’t deny it, it even looks delicious in the picture!

(Note the way cool phone cover!)

Finally, Day 25. I went to Twist N Swirlz (yes one of my fav places!) with one of my fav people after work today! I got (because I know you’re dying to know) a sugar free vanilla with fresh strawberries and hot fudge! Mmmm! But that was not even my gift to myself (don’t worry I wouldn’t do the same gift two different days!); I went primarily for the AWE-some shirts they sell! Cuppy (at least that is what I named him) is the Twist N Swirlz mascot and now I can appropriately represent with him front and center on my new White T. Oh Cuppy, you are so cool! (baha! knee slapper! ;)) And not only did I get an amazing shirt AND delicious fro-yo (I know what you’re thinking: What more could there possibly be!?), but I learned something way cool! Straight from the mouth…well okay repeated, straight from the mouth…of a real-life ice cream aficionado: did you know, vanilla ice cream that is more yellow-ish in color actually has better flavor than its white counterparts!? It’s because the yellow-ish one is more concentrated with vanilla as compared to the weaker flavored competition. Makes sense right!? Well if my yellow-tinted frozen yogurt was any indication, this is truth people!

Another week of awesome gifts…and another day closer to the big 3-0! Still looking for my perfect plan for the next 30 days…suggestions people!

Day 18 & 19

Yesterday (Day 18) I bought myself two phone covers. I go back and forth about liking covers on my phone. The phone I have is pretty big, but its redeeming quality is that it is really thin; however, putting a cover on it makes it really big and bulky.Β  I like the covers and I think it adds a level of protection that my clumsiness will benefit from; but it drives me nuts when the phone won’t fit in my pocket! So anyhow, I bought two super cute ones and am hoping that how much I like them will override how frustrated I get with their size. They are super cute though! The Cardinals one is the one I have on right now! And while I’m on it, pitchers and catchers reported today! Yes, my dear husband Yadi is spending his days in gorgeous Jupiter, Florida. Sigh. Meanwhile, I can’t wait for baseball season to start! It’s getting closer…woot woot!

Today, I went to the mall to get myself some new jeans! I have been wearing the same one pair everyday for a couple months now, so I figured it was time for a second option. Let me note that I HATE clothes shopping; especially for jeans! So I wasn’t overly thrilled for shopping, but was excited for new jeans. Well, my jeans trip turned into a shopping spree. I ended with 5 bags and a snickerdoodle cookie (who can go to the mall and not stop at The Cookie Factory!?)! Oops. But I will say it made my dreaded shopping trip a little more fun! Final product: 1 pair of American Eagle artist jeans; 1 pair of dark denim, trouser style jeans from Express; a super-cute white, 3/4 length sleeve, cowl neck shirt also from express; a white and a baby blue, pink brand racerback tank from Victoria’s Secret; an insanely soft, nice, purple tee from Limited (40% off!); and laundry detergent and softening dryer sheets from Victoria’s Secret. I know you’re probably thinking laundry detergent from Victoria’s Secret!? Trust me, it smells INCREDIBLE! I love using it on my sheets and comforter; it makes snuggling up at night even better! Eight ‘gifts’ and a cookie later…I would say day 19 was a success!

a lot of catching up to do…

Allow me to apologize for slacking in blog updates! I have an entire week of gifts to brag about!! So let’s get started…

Day 12. For my birthday a dear friend and I went to Chicago. On Friday we spoiled ourselves with facials and manicures! It was so relaxing; especially after my massage the previous day. I don’t think I’ve ever been so pampered! After our spa time and checking into the hotel we went out for an amazing Fondue dinner. Neither of us had ever been to a fondue restaurant; and let me tell you, I’m glad there are not a surplus of them in the Springfield area, because I would honestly want to go every night! We had a cheddar cheese fondue appetizer with bread, apples, and veggies; soybean oil dinner fondue with beef, chicken, potatoes, and veggies + tons of different dipping sauces; and of course a chocolate fudge fondue dessert with a platter full of fresh fruit, graham crackers, angel food cake, marshmallows, and tons and tons more! It was sooo good! The facial was my intended gift to myself but between that and the fondue, I really spoiled myself that day!

Day 13 started with a gift bright and early! Enter: GIANT WHOOPIE PIE! This was my breakfast and close to the only thing I ate the entire day! It took me about 3 hours to finish, it was sooo big and rich and delicious! Plus it was vegan so thatkindameans healthy right!? πŸ™‚ YUM!

Day 14 I was perusing etsy (bad idea!) and came across this awesome scarf:

I told you I was obsessed with scarves, and yes I already have two red scarves at home but they arevery different from this one! Plus, can’t you just see me wearing this to numerous Cardinal games this summer!? I can. It’s perfect!

Day 15, the big Valentine’s day. Such an interesting holiday it is. I love reading facebook on Vday, there is always a veryΒ entertaining spread of pro vs. anti- VDay comments. One of my favs: “just woke up to my children and wife making me heart shaped pancackes. fighting back the tears in front of them, I honestly couldn’t have asked for anything better.” Ok, so I’m not one for vday, romance is not high on my list this year; but I’m still a sap at heart and it touches me to see old friends happy! πŸ™‚ So, I ‘romanced’ myself this year with one of my favorite Valentine’s Day treat…chocolate covered strawberries. Ok, so really that’s one of my favorite anytime treats!

Moving on to Day 16. I took my Kindle with me to Chicago this weekend, and I realized how badly I needed to get a case for it. So I found this super cute one on Etsy (It’s almost as addictive as pinterest, but it costs you money…don’t start!). The outside is all that bright paisley pattern. Plus, the fabric and stuffing is wrapped around a plastic piece so it offers some safety too. Pretty excited! πŸ™‚

Last, but certainly not least, Day 17. I discovered something very exciting a couple weeks ago at a trivia night I did; and I have been waiting to try it ever since. Allow me to introduce you to Pink Moscato. No you did not read that wrong…moscato that is pink! I was thrilled! I love moscato and obviously I love pink! How can it get any better!? I’m really not sure that it tastes any different. It’s very possible that the brilliant marketing minds decided to add dye to my moscato and increase the price. And I’m ok with that! I am going to enjoy my pink moscato with a smile! I’ll let you know if it tastes different!

Wow it has been an exciting week! I am going to try to promise myself no more food gifts! I’m getting my diet back on track after this week!!! I can’t believe another 30 days is over halfway gone! 13 more days of gifts and then I will have to come up with another idea! I should start thinking on that now! πŸ™‚ Happy weekend everyone! I promise not to wait until next week to post again! ❀

happy REAL birthday…

Well, yesterday was my actual birthday. And it was a great day! ❀ But first let me get you caught up on days 9 and 10.

Day 9. I was browsing amazon tonight for random things and came across this STL Cardinals license plate cover! If you are unaware I LOVE the cardinals. Live and die by Cardinal baseball really. And I figured that this chrome cover will be the perfect edition to my new car. New car, which was not a birthday gift, for those of you briefly stricken by overwhelming jealousy. πŸ™‚ I’m excited for it to come in!

Dias Diez. I’m super excited about this gift. While it was a much more expensive one, it’s one I’ve been wanting for a while! I finally signed up for a membership at Gold’s Gym and started personal training. I had my first session on day 10 and it went great! I was super nervous but it was awesome and I can’t wait for my next workout!

Finally, yesterday. It was a GREAT day! I worked out first thing in the morning (funny story: showed up for Body Pump @ 5:30am…and there is no Body Pump on Fridays. Duh!) and then came back home for a nap. I got a birthday Starbucks Iced Tea and went to class. After that, enter birthday gift numero uno: I got an amazing massage at BJ Grand Salon. It was so relaxing! I also got some new shampoo and conditioner! I know that sounds boring but I’m totally a shampoo snob and I was very excited about it! It’s a new line made by BJ for girls who work out a lot. It’s a special formula to keep your hair from doing that stringy workout thing. Plus it’s all natural: no chemicals, etc. They are trying to go green too; so if you save the bottles and take them back in, they will refill them! And most importantly it smells awesome! Plus, I got a free water bottle! Who doesn’t love free!? I haven’t tried the shampoo yet, but I’ll be sure to report back. After my massage I got to have lunch with my daddy. We went to Lake Pointe Grill and I broke my diet for the first time since Christmas. It was delicious, but I was SO full! I also got a few amazing gifts fresh from Paris thanks to Daddy and Therese! ❀ Finally, I had a little time to relax before my last but certainly not least gift to myself for the day…Twist N Swirlz. Mmmm!! For those of you who are not familiar it is UH-MAZ-ING self-serve yogurt with every conceivable topping known to man. Seriously, too many flavors to choose!! But I did…sort of…Verdict: Banana Fro-Yo with fresh strawberries, hot fudge and a little granola to top it off. Banana Split. OH SO GOOD…oh ya, and a small side of Peach Ginger because it’s so amazing but I just like it plain. Yes, I got two. They were small people! Hence my ‘sort of’ decision. πŸ™‚ YUM!

Days 5, 6, 7, & 8

Oh blog how I’ve missed you! My internet has been down for way too long. Not good when you are taking an online class….but I’ll get to that later ((I have four whole days to catch up on!!)! πŸ˜‰

Starting with dia cinco de Cumpleanos. ((That’s all I got. I don’t know ‘gift’ in Spanish.)) I actually got doubled up on gifts this day! I got to go to the Luke Bryan & Jason Aldean concert-which was AWESOME! Oh Luke Bryan, how I enjoy fawning over you! Being the typical girl that I am, I had been planning for days what I was going to wear to the concert. Insert: sprained ankle. And just like that my carefully planned outfit adorned by new, brown, healed boots went out the window. However, the new scarf that I had been planning on just got re-purposed into the new outfit. This new scarf was my first gift of the day. I am OBSESSED with scarfs; especially the new infinity style ones. You will likely find me wearing a scarf 225 days out of the year. This scarf, however, is special. I made this scarf! I found a tutorial on making scarfs out of old pajama pants (thank you pinterest) and was immediately hooked! I didn’t have an old pair of pj’s that I wanted to use; so I got these cute, green, plaid ones from Walmart for $3. I LOVE the final product and I’m pretty sure I haven’t taken it off since (except maybe to shower). Sorry for the mirror, self-portrait and the messy room in the background, I just really wanted to show off my handy-work!

But alas, that was only the first gift of the day! As you may recall, I was privileged enough to attend the Luke Bryan and Jason Aldean, My Kinda Party concert in Champaign that night. Although that was a WONDERFUL gift, it was not one to myself. πŸ™‚ I did however purchase a Luke Bryan tshirt after the show. I’m not typically one for concert shirts; but come on, who can resist that smile!? Well maybe you can’t see it that well in this picture; but trust me, your will is no match for his pearly whites!

Moving on to day six. I actually had some free time to relax on Sunday so I spent it at one of my favorite places: Barnes and Noble. Literally, I could go there and browse around, drinking Starbucks, for hours! And that is exactly what I did-walked in, bought my Venti Iced Tea Unsweetened and browsed my heart out. While that in itself was a treat, the real gift came at the checkout! I made it out with FIVE new books and only spent $3.21! “How!?” you say. Well, I wish I could tell you that I am one of those amazing couponers who gets paid to take things out of the store; but in reality, I had gift cards. So, one Starbucks Tea, 2.5 hours, and $3.21 later, I headed home with my treasure. I know, I know…more books, but still no time for reading. The day will come my friends, the day will come; and I will be prepared! πŸ™‚

Monday night (Day 7) I went to a Pampered Chef party at a good friend’s house! Those of you who know me, know I LOVE to cook! So naturally, I love Pampered Chef. Oddly enough, this was the first actual PC party I had ever been to. I order often, but had never actually been to a party. It was so fun and there was delicious food, cooked right in front of our eyes! If you have never been to one you need to! (And I have just the opportunity for you: March 19 at my house. ;-)) I was pretty good, and resisted the urge to buy the whole catalog. I got myself a much needed new cookie sheet, along with a few other gizmos and gadgets. Plus, my purchase afforded me a FREE margarita mix from their not-even-released-yet Spring line! SCORE!

And finally…Day Eight of Birthday Gifts. I was in somewhat of a panic when I got out of class around 9pm this evening and realized I had yet to treat myself for the day. However, after getting home and settling in, I remembered something that I had reallllly wanted to buy myself a couple months back, but didn’t want to spend the money at the time. The only downside is that I had to order them, thus wait for them to come in. I wish I could have had them in time for this weekend, but I will just have to be patient. I ordered three pairs of boot socks! I know, lame name; but they are SO cute! I first found out about this amazing accessory trend via…you guessed it…pinterest! So I found a few pair on Etsy and longed after them for a couple weeks before deleting them from my cart and moving on with my life. But alas, it is my birthday [month]. So for those of you who have not seen these before, be prepared to be awed. Disclaimer: I cannot be held responsible for money spent on undeniable urges to purchase boot socks due to my blog.

WOW! Happy Birthday to me x 4! I have been so spoiled…and this weekend it’s only going to get better! So stay tuned!

On the 4th day of birthday gifts…

Boyce Avenue.

Enough Said. πŸ™‚

I have been wanting this CD forrrrrever. ((It’s Boyce Avenue New Acoustic Sessions, Vol 2 in case you can’t see in the pic)) But it is only available in an mp3 download. I’ve been debating over this since pre-Christmas days because I LOVE LOVE LOVE his voice and covers; but I really want to be able to listen to it in my car and it is such a hassle to have to download it, transfer it, burn it, etc. If you haven’t heard them before watch below. Like now. Seriously, I’ll wait. Go ahead….::whistlingWAITINGwhistling::

See?? I was right, huh…Amazing! β™₯ So finally, I decided to go ahead and buy the full album in an mp3. The great thing? I figured out how to get it on my computer, kindle, AND phone all without a mess of cables, transferring, time, etc. Oh, technology these days!

One happy girl…

Day 2 & 3

On the second day of my birthday celebration I treated myself to this UH-MAZING fruit tray from Schnucks. I know it probably sounds super boring, but I LOVE fruit! And I eye these delicious fruit trays every time I’m in there, but I’ve never been able to bring myself to spend the money. I mean don’t get me wrong it is FULL of yummy, fresh, pre-cut, juicy, ready-to-pop-in-your-mouth fruit, but $13!? I could buy a whole cart-full of all those fruits for that much; granted, I would have to wash, peel, slice and dice them all myself. So in the spirit of birthday gifts, I decided to spend the moola and finally buy myself this beauty! And boy did I enjoy it!! ((Yes, that is a delicious, cream cheese + marshmallow fruit dip smack dab in the middle of my tray; or so I’m told. I refrained. I’m still not cheating from my diet until my real birthday. At which point, I fully intend to CHEAT to the full extent of the word! More on that to come.))

Day 3, Ohhhhh Day 3. What a day this was. Those of you who know me, know I don’t drink. Like literally, I can count on less than one hand the number of times I drink in a year. But for today’s gift to myself, I’m going straight for that bad-day cliche: I need a drink. After all, it’s 5 O’clock somewhere….So tonight at Xochimilco, with a big group of dear friends (who need to get together WAY more often) I treated myself to a frozen, peach margarita. And for the record…I’m not counting it as a cheat from my diet! πŸ™‚

Day 1, All Over Again.

It is time for my next 30 day adventure. Being that February is my birthday month, I decided to celebrate all month long…so:

30 Birthday Gifts in 30 Days!

Yes, I intend to treat myself 30 times in the next 30 days….I know totally selfish, right!? But I don’t do that often; and I feel like I deserve a little something special..err, 30 somethings special! Besides, my daddy would totally tell me I deserve it! ::big-spoiled-daddy’s-girl-smile::

So, today, I fully intended to treat myself with a day off from working out; but then Kim wanted to do body pump…so I went. (AND THEN SHE DITCHED ME! Just Sayin!) I did weigh in though, and over my 30 days of working out I lost 11.5 pounds and 7% body fat…not too shabby! That’s a good gift right there! I also got a bag full of amazing, organic fruit from my dad!! DELICIOUS…does that count!? Welllllll….I didn’t technically get that for myself…. πŸ™‚

So after much consideration I decided to buy myself a book on my NEW Kindle Fire! No, the kindle wasn’t my gift to myself; I got that from an accumulation of gift cards! But, I just received it a couple weeks ago and literally have been so busy I haven’t had a chance to do anything with it! So tonight, I bought my first ebook AND learned how to get it onto my Kindle…which was a very confusing process! Thank you Sai from Kindle Live Chat Support!

Don’t make fun….if you know me, you know that I am EPICALLY bad at decision making. It’s true, World’s Worst Decision Maker-It’s something I really need to work on! Anyway, this caught my eye somewhere…most likely pinterest….and I read the first couple pages online. It actually seems really interesting so I’m excited to read it. I know, I know…when do I have time to read!? Well perhaps by the end of the month I will have finished it…or perhaps I’ll gift myself with a ::coughcough:: call in sick day and just read on my porch all day! πŸ˜‰
